Bedrock Word Boxes and Writing Sheets YR1 WKS 1-4

Are you looking for independent Bedrock work your students can do during literacy centers or independent practice time? Word Boxes help students build phonological awareness skills by segmenting each word. Strong vocabulary is essential to improving all areas of communication. The writing section helps students use repetition to become accomplished with words in the English langauge.

Bedrock vocabulary is a weekly visually based vocabulary for deaf and hard of hearing students created by Kristin A. Di Perri. Deaf children need more opportunities to practice vocabulary. These worksheets will help your students practice a week's worth of words through different activities.

Research is showing that fingerspelling can be used as a tool when teaching phonological awareness to D/HH students. With fingerspelling students can understand the printed word and also see patterns in words. Fingerspelling also helps D/HH students decode words and builds a direct relationship between ASL and printed English.

Included in this packet are:

•28 pages

•Word Boxes Practice 8 pages

•Word Boxes with Fingerspelling Practice 8 pages

•Writing Practice 15 pages
