Diphthongs (Diff-thongs) are gliding vowels, where the sound begins as one vowel sound and moves to another vowel sound. When the vowels glide together, they make a unique sound. Diphthongs can come anywhere in a word (beginning, middle, or end).
Diphthongs include:

•EW – Chew
•OO – Room
•OI – Oil
•OY – Boy
•OW – Brown
