Word Wall Words - Bedrock Year 2

Bedrock vocabulary is weekly visually based vocabulary for deaf and hard of hearing students created by Kristin A. Di Perri. Deaf children need more opportunities to practice vocabulary. This resource is a visual aid that can be used to encourage increased student independence when reading and writing. Word walls can be used to improve literacy by helping students build vocabulary and improve spelling in written work.

Research is showing that fingerspelling can be used as a tool when teaching phonological awareness to D/HH students. With fingerspelling students can understand the printed word and also see patterns in words. Fingerspelling also helps D/HH students decode words and builds a direct relationship between ASL and printed English.
